Ok, I'm a new
zune owner and have a TON of frustration with the eco-system that surronds
zune these days. With the product release v2 and what I feel to be a superior user experience to iPod/iTunes store. It amazes me that the
Zune Marketplace lacks the depth of content that iTunes has. It is also gut wrenching to see how many iPod ready devices, and accessories. Some of the worst culprits of this frustration are the car headunits that ship today that are iPod ready. I may have missed an obscure one or two, but I don't think we have any Zune ready car headunits. Which leads me to my biggest rant,,,,,I bit the bullet to pay almost $85 for a FM broadcasting unit/charger. THAT THING SUCKS!!! I live in an urban area(which most of this country's population does) and the amount of radio frequency bleed over, and stepping that occurs makes the Zune's signal frequently static filled, or background noise to a distant signal. Furthermore, the frequency range available on that thing is limited. Most modern vehicle's radios reach low FM range signals (<90.1) but the dang device won't utilize those often un-used public radio band frequencies. Further flaming this accessory, who was the genius that designed it??? It displays "Zune" on digital radios, but misses the mark because it should display the now playing information from the device. This is a middle range bar of performance since almost all iPod ready devices have the ability to navigate the playlist, and display track progress or other now playing information.
I'm ready for the "value-add" vendors to step up and deliver some great add-ons for these little jewels.
Furthermore; why is it that sights like this, and other user based communities are often the most reliable sources of deeper information? While zune's website is very "sterile" to the only demonstrate basic usability.
Ok,,,,enough of my soap box. I love the device, the marketplace has great vision, and usability and the best subscription model on the planet. Connectivity to Xbox, and other PCs and Zunes is the pinacle of mobile media devices and the reason I will forever think this is a superior product to the competition.
