Zune 30GB Repair
As I have notice is that alot of people own a Zune but outside USA, how do you when you want to repair a broken screen or hard-drive?
Do you repair it yourself or has the player just never gone bad in your hands?

Well my zune has never gone bad but if something did go wrong you can either order the replacement parts yourself and fix it on your own or i think you can send it to a website in America to fix it i think or possibly you could take it to an electronics store that deals with ipod repairs and they should be able to help a bit.

But im maby going to sell my brown Zune and buy a Halo Zune insteed and then I got this idea in my head "What if?"
The Zune seems lika a robust peace of technologi but that doesnt stop it from breaking. Im a bit sceptic about if a Ipod dealer even would touch it... But its not impossible that someone can repair it. Any others that have some problems and couldnt send it to USA?

Well, at first i knew Zunes were pretty darn strong, but after having mine knocked out of my hand and dropped 4metres onto concrete (long story), it all fell apart. Literally, the whole thing opened up and cables disconnected hard drive came out etc. I managed to place everything back together in the right places, and get it all working again (except my hold button is the wrong way around - which fools everyone).
I think the best bet, if something breaks is to go to rapidrepair.com (they are in the USA) and send it to them internationally, or just order a new replacement part from them. Although, in some cases now it'll be cheaper to buy a new Zune 30 than to get it repaired, even in the UK these things are dirt cheap at the moment. I would like to pick up a Zune 30 brown and 160gb ipod, and steal the harddrive. Anyway, hope that gives you some other ideas.

Ach yeas, the Rapidrepair, I was looking for that site but forgoten about the name.
The nice thing with the Zune also is that it isnt alot of things in it, so if i may break it not a comfusing work to change the damage parts. But it as you say, its mutch cheaper to buy a new Zune but a Zune you have bought for own money and used for a couple of month isnt just a Zune, its a friend that have served you well. Now im going to bid on a Brown Halo 3 Zune, wich me luck ![]()

Hey!
My boyfriend's Zune broke not long after I bought it for him (but of course, after the warantee ran out!). I've just bought a new harddrive, 30gb, so the same as before. Does anyone know how we can change it?! I can't find any instructions to do it, only to get a 60gb into the 30gb! Thanks! Jenni |

Yes, you can follow the same instructions.. except you dont need to remove the mounting cage for the HD, which you would on a 60gb+ version

I don't understand how you fixed your Zune, Aden.
If it breaks open it will **** up the bottom part because thats where two screws are...they judging by the material the casing is made of the screws wont pop out, the casing would have to crack or something. |
