Cannot hear music playing! Help!

I recently purchased a Zune 30gb about a few days ago and for some reason, I can't seem to hear any of the music on my Zune - not even the preloaded songs. I have been unable to find any solution for this and I'm hoping someone on here might have some answers. Any suggestions or advice is helpful! Thanks!

Have you tried different earphones?
It might just be coz the earphones are broken, also check that when you think the song is playing that the bar, showing the length of the song, is moving along so you know it definitely is playing.

Also, when earphones / headphones / speakers are plugged into the earphone jack, while you go through Zune menu's do you here the clicking sound on a menu change etc (you may need to turn this mode on first in the settings). Can you here any Zune sounds, such as in movies? If you cant, i suspect your earphones / headphones are damaged at the Jack, either that or the Zune Jack itself has become damaged. You should try call Microsoft if it is this.

i have the same problem, my headphones work, the clicks work, and the radio works.

my track sequence shows the song being played, but there is no audio. same with videos.

any idea?

i bought it from amazon, used, and refurbished by Zune.

If ring up Microsoft for this and hopefully they will swap you for your new one if you still have warrantee with them.

im not sure how long the warranty lasts though. i got it in november of 2007. i really like the zune but im so fed up with their "customer support."

is it even possible to sync music and videos on it without using zune software?

I think the warranty lasts for a year? If you want to sync music and videos onto your zune without using the zune software, you can do it with zsuite but it will not work with the latest zune software right now. For more information, go here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Ok, well I haven't even tried using it since last winter, so i'll charge it and see what i can do.

Should I update the firmware, maybe the bug will get fixed. I just really don't want to spend money on a new mp3 player if i can fix the issue that i have now.

I wont be able to try it till the weekend, but thanks for the advice and help. Finally somebody actually wants to help other users out.

Yeah no worries, I try to do what I can...Anyways, yes try updating your zune with a new firmware and hopefully it will fix the bugs. Otherwise I think you'll have to resort to Microsoft's customer service, unfortunately, to resolve your issue and hopefully get a new one, that is if you don't want to spend money on a new one.

so yeah, i charged and restored the Zune's harddrive, but still no music. I can hear the interference when i plug or unplug my headphones and when i turn on the radio. Plus, all of the songs work through the software on my cpu. Could it be that since none of my tracks have DRM, that they wont produce any audio on the zune?

the same thing happend with the preloaded music and videos: track sequence but no audio.

any suggestions, cuz i would really like to use it :/
