ive had my zune connected to xp, then a few months after i got my new laptop, with vista home premium, the software stops working. it says "microsoft zune has stopped working" after about 30 seconds, but it never did before. Does anyone know what it could be?

Is this the actual software on the PC. If it is, try uninstalling and reinstalling a fresh copy from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

ive already tried uninstalling and installing with the disk that zune came with, will that make a difference? maybe ill go try right now with the zune.net...

Different versions of software and different installer versions.
So yes, it will make a difference.

ok. i tried to install it from zune.net and still the same thing. but it works on my girlfriends profile (same computer, both administrators) i even uninstalled and reinstalled it from my profile using zune.net.

That is really freaky.
Maybe you have some stuff ready to be synced or something in your library that is causing the problem that is the only reason i can come up with for it working on your gf's profile.
Try getting rid of the data under Local Settings (not sure where this folder is on vista so you are going to have to do some research).
It will most probably be under your user name inside documents and settings.. inside the drive where you have installed vista. Hmm look for a folder named Users, go to your username under that then have a look around for the local settings folder its Hidden normally so you will have to enable hidden file/folder viewing under folder options. If you find it look for a folder called application data. Inside that folder go to the folder called Microsoft and inside that folder go to the Zune folder and delete EVERYTHING inside that folder.
This WILL erase all your settings for the Zune Software. Everything will be back to default.

ok here goes nothing... erasing "Users-Bryan-AppData-Local-Microsoft-Zune" hopefully this works... i threw everything into the recyclebin from the zune folder. ill let you know shortly.

wierd, everything resynced then it stopped working again...
