Cancel synching?

I am a new Zune owner and have managed the firmware upgrade and ripped CDs into my collection. However, I must have a setting incorrect because after having a full collection of CDs in the Zune I encountered a problem. I was running out of hard drive space on my computer so decided to delete CDs from my collection to free up space. When I connected the Zune it automatically synched and deleted all those CDs from the Zune. How do I keep this from happening?

If you are using the latest version of zune software then to disable auto syncing you must do the following:
1) Make sure your zune device is connected.
2) Open up the zune software and go to settings.(Top Right)
3) Right under settings you would see the device tab.(Top Left) Click on it.
4) Some options will appear on the left hand side click the first one there called "Sync Options".
5) Now click on the Change Sync Relationship button.
6) Either choose connect as guest here(second option) or link your device.
If you choose to link your device to the software then:
7) Choose the first option and click the next button (bottom right).
8) Name your zune or enter your zune tag..and hit next.
9) Ok now on this panel make sure you set it to let you choose the music, the videos, the photos and the podcasts to sync.
Basically second options for each of them.
10) Hit Finish and now we are done .

Does that mean files don't automatically sync when you put , for example, music files in My Music folder?

It does if you have that folder as a automatically detected folder changing thingy in the settings area.
