my zune doesn't sync to the zune software

hi. i just had my zune a few months ago so i'm quite familiar with updating and syncing my zune. a few days ago, however, i deleted all my songs from my zune then when i reconnected my zune to my computer, it charges but the zune software does not pop up. apparently now, i can't sync my zune even if i tried in the other computer.

Cant you just start the Zune software when its connected?

i tried that, and still nothing. i also tried reinstalling the zune software.... arggh

How did you delete all your music?
With a button sequence or by the computer?
If you did it with a button sequence it means the Zune firmware will have been erased and taken back to 1.0 which means you will have to update it before it is compatible (able to sync) with the software 2.3 or any of the 2.0 Softwares.

i deleted it from the zune player. so how could i update the firmware?

You should go about installing version 1 software using the tutorial on this site for downgrading, once version 1 software is installed, install version 1 firmware onto your Zune, then happily upgrade the Zune software to version 2.3 and your Zune will upgrade also and all of your problems should be solved.

Lesson: Don't delete directly from device.

I did something similar with my old ipod (hissss). Fortunately Apple includes a restore option in iTunes.

That thing is pretty much impossible to brick.

Hmm, maybe another feature for Microsoft to include in an update?

Hmm it should be hard to brick this, but depends what state its in. I recommend formatting the hard drive if you can see in the windows explorer (My Computer) and then replugging it out and in, see if the software picks it up
