Can't turn the damn thing off

Pressing Back and Down is supposed to completely turn Zune off (Zune 80 2gen). It seems to work for everybody but me. I kept pressing for more than 10 seconds several times and nothing happened. WTF?

do you want to turn it off or restart it? restart is up+back, turning it off is done by holding the play/pause button

start/pause button is standby. to turn it off fully you have to press back+down, so you are doing it correctly. i have no clue as to why it wont turn off. was it connected to an outlet?, although that shouldnt make a difference if you want to turn it off compeletely.
