Curious about zune 80gb background options.

It's just an observation but when I change the background on my zune 80gb it rotates the pictures and cuts off the edges becuase its trying to show the pic at its native resolution. I dont remember having this problem with my friends 1st gen zune 30gb. This pisses me off to no end! The zune software is supposed to automatically resize photos when they are synced. And they can be viewed just fine when playing a slideshow. Is there a way to change this without having to resize all of my PC wallpapers before syncing them? Also, is it just my imagination, or did the 1st gen zune not do this?

AND NOW THE NOT-SO MINDLESS RANTINGS OF A MAD MAN!

What the hell happened?!?!? I got so interested in the zune when my friend from out of town brought his 1st gen 30gb zune to my house. The zune itself wasnt extraordinarily different, yet the software was blissful. It didnt have that same authoritarian attitude that itunes did. And the color scheme was pleasing to the eyes. I held out for a long time on buying an MP3 player because the only large capacity ones out there were Ipods. And I hated the software and lack of features in ipods.

So I go and buy the newest Zune. I get the 80gb and go to put it on my PC, only to find that a newer version of the zune software was available. I ALMOST CRYED, I WAS SO DISSAPPOINTED!

Instead of adding features and improving upon the original zune software, Microsoft slimed down and traded features for a cleaner trimmed look. The background is so goddamn white, it gave me a headache! I had to hack the program to get a darker background.

Here is an ever growing list of things I think the zune 2nd gen and software should have, that it doesnt at the moment. There are plenty of far out things I would like too, but these are more practical ideas.

Things I want fixed on the zune 2.0 -

1. Pictures set as background should resize properly!
2. I would like it to display file info such as bitrate.
3. An equalizer would be nice.
4. Would like to record live FM radio broadcasts.
5. Be able to paste album art directly into zune software like the original.
6. Software could use other improvements as far as details. It needs more details shown such as bitrate, file location. And when files are being synced they should show progress and rate at which they are being transfered.
7. Need to be able to drag and drop album folders into other folders inside zune software.
9. Would like to customize zune software (background, placement of buttons, way things are listed....make things more modular, etc.)
10. An option to have a random wallpaper ever time the player starts up.
11. Give the zune a clock, or at least an internal clock so it knows to change wallpaper ever couple days or so.

Damn it! I just want more options. I'm about to look up open source MP3 players right now! And instead of changing zune software, improve upon it!

lol. yes, the software can be annoying but i dont have any problems with my zune. but maybe that's because i have a zune 30 with an upgraded firmware?

maybe/hopefully, microsoft will listen to its consumers again and add/fix those things people are complaining about.

So what your saying is that your zune 30gb with the updated firmware doesnt automatically rotate all images 90 degrees to the left when you set them as background?

No matter what picture I have on the zune, when I set it as background it rotates to the left and stretches the image thereby cutting off the outer edges of picture.

Does anybody else have this problem with their Zune 80gb?

well, zune 30s do rotate their images so make the image landscape.

about your background problem, is the stretching and pixilated problem caused by the fact that the image is very small (in pixels)?
