Zune wired remote control not working at all

I've bought the zune travel pack on ebay. Definitely good stuff, but the wired remote control doesn't work at all. The whole package has been refunded, and i kept the stuff!!!! So dearest friends, what could i do to make the remote work... Any suggestions? Keep in mind that magic is not a good answer.

Wow never seen that before, looks cool,
No idea what you could do to make the remote work,
You said you got refunded?
You could just buy a new one then if they're sold separately

I have the Zune travel pack and my wired remote works fine. Obviously you got to attach the end bit of the remote to the Zune. Now, at the top of the wired remote, there are two holes for two earphone headsets, just attach your earphones into one of the earphone jacks. There's also volume control on the sides of remote so adjust them whenever you feel like it/need to. If none of this doesn't work, then go out and get yourself a new travel pack or just the remote itself.

Is it possible that the wired Zune remote doesn't work with second generation Zunes (4, 8 & 80 GB)?

Bad News (because I wanted one), the wired remote only works with the Zune 30.
