ZAGG | invisibleSHIELD

Alright, so I've placed an order for my 80GB original, and started looking for a case that wouldn't hinder the beauty of the device. Started looking, and I stumbled upon this. Supposedly the material is ridiculously durable, and can withstand a whole array of damage.

Hesitant to order, but I probably will once my zune arrives.

Check it out here.

On a side note, how vital is it to have a case for the Zune? Will the carrying pouch suffice for the time being?

Yeah I've heard of invisble shield,
They're the best screen protectors,
The material is made out of something that protects Helicopter rotor blades,
I'd say a case is kinda vital for a Zune,
It depends where you use it,
If it's just at home then no need for a case but if you take it to town and school just get a nice case,
Invisible shields are nice but don't presume having a piece of plastic (even though it is see-through) will make the Zune still look the same,
Personally I'd just get a nice case,
Incipio have some nice ones, Belkin are to over priced I think,
Speck tough skins look really nice as well

A case isnt vital with either Zune.

They are built darn well, havnt properly used my Zune 80 with a case except when reviewing stuff, its gone in my pocket with coins, keys, paperclips, pins, phones and the like. No scratches (its more durable than the brick 30, which i thought was indestructable). The only thing which doees scratch is the touchpad, which is irritating, because the rest of the device is perfect, but yah, thats the only thing that scratches.

I think having a case is more for the big falls or to reassure yourself its safe (even though 95% of the time its fine without).

Looks like some good protection thought.. i might try it out.

Thanks for the reply, Aden.

I had figured that the Zune was pretty durable from research, but I didn't really want to take any chances.

Good to hear that I can live without it for a while.

But do you know anything about the durability of the engravings for Originals? That is definitely another area for concern.

If you're getting a ZOriginal, you most definately need a case....the etching can scratch depending on how you handle it...it doesn't appear as though it would ever become invisible and from some angles it still looks perfect, but scratches can cause inconsistencies that are annoying....I have the Kenzo Minami Original design and it's kind of scratched up....I'll post a few pictures when I get home

Interesting.

Thanks Shado, I think I'll go on ahead and order this soon.

Seems pretty reliable.

I assume I can use the pouch while I'm shieldless.

Although my 80gb isnt scratched, the etching on the back (zune logo, 80gb text and the text below it) is gradually getting worn away, mainly due to the fact of things rubbing against it (metallic things like keys and coins).

For the love of god, if you buy ZUNE Originals, get a good case, and this seems great, as its clear so you can see your uber1337 design, aswell as protect it.

I have used IS on my DS screens before. They are really durable. They give the screens a rubbery like feel that might cause a little more friction than usual. They are also a huge pain to apply. If you have airbubbles under the screen protector, they may disappear after a few days but if you want, you could reapply the screen protector.
