Missing music

I don't know if it's just me going crazy or the software, but in the process of trasfering music from my PC to my Zune, and then my Zune to my laptop I lost a ton of music. I'm not talking a few, but maybe 500 songs that never trasnfered either way. Zune even went as far as deleting a song I had on my player when I was transfering to my laptop, so now it's not on my player or my laptop. Has anyone else had this happen? Am I going crazy?

I have a feeling this might not be the best place to post this, so if an admin wants to move it please go ahead.

Also, thanks for having a comprehensive support forum for the Zune since Microsoft doesn't, go figure.

Gladly, its not you going crazy. I am having the exact same troubles too. Since i had all my music on my Zune, then wiped my PC and am now trying to reverse the music back again.. currently am missing about 1300 tracks.

I am not sure what the problem is. Microsoft knows of it.. but has yet to sort it.

If i highlight all and try to reverse sync to the PC from my Zune, it puts all the album data (or most of it), on my PC, but each album may only have 1 or 2 songs in it.

I found a slow and painful way around this, by just dragging one album across at a time.. wait til its finished then the next.. Soo far got a few hundred songs back again like this.

As for the disappearing from the device.. i have no idea.

My Advice - in order of usefulness (hopefully):
a) go album by album, its slow and painful, but might just work
b) try and restart your zune between syncs
c) redownload the music (if you own the rights to it, it doesnt matter where its from)
d) rerip the music (if you payed for it)
e) contact microsoft (notice how i left this til last )
