To all
zune fans out there if you are like me you love the
zune, but hate the software. I could not figure out why the software would see some of my current songs and not others yet they were on my computer. Today I stumbled across a method that allows the
zune software to 'see' your existing songs. To do this you will need to have both the current edition of windows media player and the current (as of May 25th) Zune software. The following instructions are geared towards a Vista Computer, but I a fairly certain this method will work for XP as well.
Step 1
In the start menu right click on the music section then left click open.
Step 2 find the album that the zune software can not see or not see all of it.
Step 3 Open that folder down to the level where all your songs are displayed
(Note at this point you will be in an album and what appears in the folder is what the zune software can detect)
Step 4 Open Windows media Player and click on library
Step 5 Search for the artist in question One you have found the album in question right click on the the album art and select open file location.
In this section you will find the missing tracks.
This next part is crucial. use CTRL A or highlight all the missing tracks and drag all the songs into the initial music folder you opened above. (If needed drag tracks to their proper order)
Then close the folder the WMP opened up.
Step 6 The zune software will detect new media and add it to your library (BEFORE AWARE THE THE ZUNE SOFTWARE IS A RESOURCE HOG AND MAY BOG DOWN IF YOU CLICK BETWEEN ALBUMS TO FAST!)
Step 6 Either find your 'new' album from the recently added list and the click sync to your zune or search for it and resync.
If followed as shown this will update your zune collection list without the use of any meta taggers or hacking. The only downside is that you have to do this for every album that is missing a track or two. Please leave feedback if this works for you. It worked great for me once I discovered how to do it and now I'm good to go.
